THE PRETENDERS, YOKO ONO, MOBY, HOWARD JONES, JOAN JETT, BRIGHT EYES, NELLIE McKAY & MORE CONTRIBUTE TO "HOME ON THE RANGE" FARM SANCTUARY BENEFIT PROJECT
"Music is a language we all understand..."
I recently had the pleasure of listening to the compilation album “Home On The Range”. Presented by the educational non-profit organisation, Compassionate Farming Education Initiative (CFEI), “Home on the Range” is a benefit compilation album and documentary film, that were both released on June 24th.
This diverse album, produced by Kneel Cohn of Warshow Angels, features exclusive songs kindly donated by a variety of outspoken vegetarian and vegan musicians; Moby, The Pretenders, Yoko Ono and many more - all of whom use their voices to raise awareness of animal rights issues and in particular, the plight of farm animals and the important work that sanctuaries do.
There are 21 wide-ranging tracks on the album with a combination of acoustic, live and studio recordings. The Pretenders get things off to an upbeat start with their track, “Break Up The Concrete”. As an aside, I have a lot of respect for Chrissie Hynde; Chrissie's been lending her voice to animal rights issues for many years and inspiring others to follow in her footsteps.
This album has introduced me to The Giving Tree Band and their track, “Peace On The Mountain”. With its country twang, it’s really catchy. I also really enjoyed the track, “Make it Back” by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, having always been in awe of Joan’s vocal range.
In short, there’s something for everyone.
