New Film - Urging the 80+% of Humans that Consider Themselves to be Spiritual or Religious to Consider Veganism - Launches Crowdfunding Campaign
Documentary about religion and veganism kicks off GoFundMe campaign to raise 44K
The Compassion Project is a feature length documentary that encourages people of faith to expand their circle of compassion to embrace all life, regardless of species.
Filmmaker Thomas Jackson is asking the spiritual and religious to take a look at what they’re eating and consider whether it's in alignment with the compassionate teachings of their faith, or if they’re feasting on cruelty, sorrow and environmental devastation. He’s gathered a host of highly respected vegan authors, activists, and artists from a variety of spiritual traditions to examine how veganism is the perfect expression of the compassion that is at the heart of all major belief systems.
Jackson contends that if the 80plus percent of humans who consider themselves spiritual or religious actually lived the compassion already inherent in their faith, this would be a very different world: one in which living beings are not considered commodities or property, and all life is treated with love and respect.
After witnessing the impact of documentaries such as Black Fish and Cowspiracy, Jackson was inspired to focus his two decades of filmmaking experience on the connection between veganism and spirituality, never before explored in a feature length documentary.
After already completing interviews with Dr. Will Tuttle ( The World Peace Diet ) and Victoria Moran ( Main Street Vegan ), The Compassion Project is kicking off a crowdfunding campaign to raise the funds needed to complete the film and get it in front of as many of the faithful as possible. Jackson will be at the FARM Animal Rights Conference in Los Angeles in July to conduct interviews and connect with activists who have dedicated their lives to creating a world of peace and equality for all earthlings.
